Astrojet I and II

Tips on Using the Astrojet I and II

  1. File types and printer drivers:
    1. To print from DOS Print command the file must have a Carriage Return and Line Feed after each line and Form Feed after each label. No other control characters are allowed.
    2. Envelope Manager - use "Mailjet", "Rena DA300", or "Scriptomatic 1180" printer drivers. Do not use Bryce drivers. They will truncate and skip lines.
    3. Arclist version 2.11 - use "Bryce 10K" printer driver.
  2. Printing in reverse mode:
The Astrojet I right justifies and requires all addresses to have lines of equal length. The easiest way to do that is to place a non-printing character in a fixed position on one line in each address label. A good choice is ASCII character #0142 (Ä).
  3. Do not press RESET button while Astrojet is receiving data from the computer. Astrojet might hang up and data in the buffer will be lost.
  4. The minimum distance between leading edges of consecutive mailing pieces on Astrojet II must be a minimum of 9 inches. If the distance is smaller, the address position might move and you will get blanks.
  5. Make sure that tracking wheels on carriage are on the belts and not between them. If the wheels are between belts, print quality will be poor and ink will smear.
